for  “If it Weren't for the Horse ” – a young Hawaiian priest discovers value in a foreigner's gift.

Second Place for Short Story
for  “Key to Life” – a fictional account of a woman grappling with a diagnosis of  breast cancer and the implications to her life and her loved ones.
 
2005 - California Writers Club – Inland Empire Branch 
First Place for Nonfiction
for “Time for Mandy” – an essay on choosing to provide chemotherapy for her Australian Shepherd dog.
 
2004 - Kay Snow Contest 
First Place for Adult Nonfiction  for “Round” -  an account of Jill’s experiences on Wake Island in the South Pacific.
